Western Hay Company was founded in 1979. WHC started out by providing quality hay products grown in the western United States to dairies and horse owners in the South-East regions of the United States. In 1986, WHC became a corporation and has continued to grow every since.
Over the years, WHC has expanded its focus to become a distributor of many agricultural products besides hay. WHC strives to provide only the finest quality in agricultural products.
Through our experience of serving our dairy and equine customers, WHC has also established an excellent logistics network. We combine the use of the railroad, over the road trucking, trans-loading facilities and steamship lines to transport products around the world. WHC has become an industry leader in developing new and innovative ways to transport various products across North America and around the world.
In 2000, WHC teamed up with the Canadian National Railroad and the New Brunswick East Coast Railroad to begin transporting peat moss from Canada across North America. WHC is now the largest transporter of Canadian peat moss into the United States.
WHC has also worked over the years to develop several export markets. WHC became the first company to export American alfalfa and cottonseed to the United Arab Emirates for their dairy industry. WHC currently exports such products as wood shavings, alfalfa hay, timothy hay and cottonseeds around the world.
